Crayon Rocks: A Unique Crayon Experience

Unlike traditional crayons made from petroleum paraffin wax, Crayon Rocks are crafted from U.S.A. grown and processed soy wax. This soy-based wax is combined with other plant waxes and a variety of non-toxic powdered pigments, resulting in a vibrant array of colors. To give the crayons their distinctive shape and texture, a natural ground rock is incorporated into the formula.

Crayon Rocks' origin story is as unique as their product. They were first created in a garage in La Crescenta, California, with colors mixed in small batches and molded by hand. As demand grew, two engineering graduates from Stanford University built a machine nicknamed "Daisy" that can produce 14,000 crayons per day with minimal supervision. In 2010, the Crayon Rocks operation relocated from the bustling California landscape to the serene rural setting of Kentucky Amish farm country, where a 4,000 square foot shop was built by the owner's "Plain People" neighbors.
